Manual operated pumps for camping air mattresses or any other types of air mattresses can be of two kinds:
hand-operated and foot-operated.
Hand operated pumps are usually smaller and take more
time and effort to inflate a mattress.
Pumps operated by foot are more common, since it is much easier to push the air by
foot than by hand. Some pumps operate in both directions, which simply means that air is pumped
into the mattress with both the push and pull actions.
A "Push-Pull" type of air pump makes it much easier to inflate the air
mattress in half the time.
For the most part these pumps do not work with stem and needle valves, such as those
in basketballs, bike tires, etc.

Though air mattress pumps are designed to work with pinch valves, there's an adapter
nozzle, and for pinch valves there's a separate adapter. Most two-way pumps inflates from one end and
deflates from the other.
